Reverse Archaeology: Metamorphosis of Aphrodite

In the Hellenic Museum's newest exhibition, acclaimed international printmaker Marco Luccio is both the creator and destroyer of his divine subject: Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love and desire. Inspired by a cast statue on display at Melbourne's Hellenic Museum, the artist has etched the goddess onto a single copper plate using his signature Drypoint technique, before carrying her through a series of bold transformations. The result is a series of unique and irreplicable, yet ultimately connected works which explore themes of love, impermanence, and the power of human connection. Now showing in the Hellenic Museum Contemporary Art Space. Entry included with museum general admission.
